History
PEABODY'S Toys That Teach, Inc. was started in 1988. When my daughter,
Victoria, was born, I decided to leave the corporate world and
spend time in the world of motherhood. Over the next two and a
half years, sons, Matthew and Christopher joined the family. I
was looking for some way to help support our growing family and
still have the flexibility of being a "Mom".
By
this time, Victoria was old enough to be invited to her friend's
birthday parties. She liked to make her own greeting cards, but
it was always, "Mommie, where is the paper? Where are my crayons?
What do I draw?" The ultimate was, "Do you have an envelope?"
I ended up with a draw full of greeting cards we bought that no
longer had envelopes! I thought it would be great if all the things
she needed to make her special cards could be in one place - maybe
some type of kit - maybe a card kit. And so, the KARD KIT™ Greeting
Card Kit was born.
The plan was to offer the kits through ads run in various women's
magazines. While the ads were expensive and the results in direct
sales disappointing, we received inquiries from retailers asking
about carrying the products in their stores. This changed our
direction and lead us to developing, manufacturing, and providing
kits to the specialty retail channels.
Over
the next few years we added FACT PACK™ Collector Card Kits and
POST-ABLE™ Stationery Kits to our family of educational kits.
Our products can be found in the gift stores of many of our state
and national parks, zoos, aquariums, museums, and tourist attractions.
We have over 100 products available for general distribution and
we make custom products for many special sites around the country.
All
of our product are made here in the USA and we are proud to say
we have been certified as a Women-Owned Business. We are proud
of all our products and want to make sure our customers are very
happy with their selection. Since our first day, we have offered
a 100% return policy for anyone who is not completely satisfied
with their purchase. I can count on one hand, and have several
fingers left over, the number of products returned!
Please
look over the kits we have in our line and feel free to contact
us at 1-800-688-1314 or by e-mail at peabodys.aol.com with any
questions or comments. We always appreciate hearing from our customers.
